this is an interesting idea! https://x.com/mitchellh/status/1852038110533816413
We do have 1.2k issues piled up...
Is there a issue template or something we can make to at least facilitate this for new issues?
I think we should figure out whether we also want to try it, and if so, what to do when other things come up (e.g. questions)
like instead of GitHub discissions, we send people to Zulip
because it's organized like a discussion board except you can use it both asynchronously or realtime
Big advantage of GitHub discussion is that it is indexable by search engines and can be convert to issues. For real bugs and faq, I think it has advantages over Zulip
Oh, and you can convert issues into discussion. Very important for all of the q&a plus nonactionable bugs that you want to move out of issues to avoid clutter
Feels wrong is someone files a non-actionable bug and we just close it saying go make an actionable bug or discuss on zulip
But converting it into a discussion until it is actionable feels totally fine
All this said, I am in favor of purging many issues in the name of getting more actionable and organized. So I would be up for trying something like this
